While in Cuba, students will visit farms, agricultural universities, research stations, and urban agriculture centres to explore the Cuban model of sustainable agriculture, and understand its relevance for agriculture in other countries, in particular Canada.
Once the students return from Cuba, they will have the option of engaging with an online network of students who have previously taken LFS 302 (formerly AGSC 302) to share information/ideas/mentoring on issues of sustainable food production, urban agriculture, and Latin American and Canadian food and policy issues.
Wendy Holm, the instructor for the course, shares some of her insights into the course, and you can view them in the video below.
Please see the LFS 302A course page for more information.
If you are interested in LFS 302A, or would like to find out more information, please contact Wendy Holm at wendy@theholmteam.ca
Will you be taking another group of students on a field trip in spring of 2011? If so, I am very interested in registering. Please let me know how I may register now for this distance ed course and the field trip. Thank you so much, best regards, Joanne Taylor
