The Learning Enhancement Academic Partnership Program, or LEAP as it is more commonly known, is an online portal designed to help students to learn smart and more quickly. It began as a collaborative effort between the Alma Master Society (AMS), the Office of Student Development, and the Office of Learning Technology (OLT) in 2005. In the following years, LEAP was awarded a generous Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) grant to develop a new approach to supporting student learning at UBC.

The website (www.leap.ubc.ca) provides information and links to academic help offered by a variety of campus partners, such as UBC Library, AMS Tutoring, the Office of Student Development, and OLT. Students can find feature articles and related surveys that correspond with the academic life cycle at UBC, as well as fun features such as student and faculty blogs, and podcasts on studying tips and interviews. It’s not easy to find on-hand tailored academic help at large universities like UBC. LEAP’s mission is to help students learn.

In 2008, LEAP won the Spencer IT Innovation Award for its successful implementation of new and significantly improved ideas, services, and practices. It is a truly collaborative project that relies entirely on a team of dedicated, talented, and visionary students who suggest, build, design, write, dream, and implement everything you see in LEAP. The Office of Learning Technology is proud to continue supporting LEAP as it begins to change the culture of student support and success at UBC.
