WebCT Online Course Management System

WebCT/Vista is an online, web-based course management system designed to allow students to communicate, chat, discuss, present and submit assignments online. It allows faculty the opportunity to manage the course, track students’ progress, solicit and provide student feedback.

WebCT/Vista includes a variety of tools to facilitate communication and collaboration between you and your students, and help you manage the administrative tasks associated with teaching your course.

Each student registered in a WebCT/Vista course must have a CWL and access to the Internet with a UBC internet account.

All DE learners have access to an Orientation to Learning Online (in Vista) 2 weeks prior to the course opening. You will be added to this orientation as well – so that you can view it for reference. It should be on your Vista course list. If not contact the OLT Help Desk with your CWL to request access.

Having Trouble with Vista? Check the FAQs for faculty on the e-learning site.

Resources for Faculty including How-To documents, training opportunities, etc. are available on UBC’s e-learning site.

How-To videoclips are also available on the e-learning site for learners. These short tutorials provide instructions for using some of the tools in Vista to submit assignments, post to a discussion, view grades, etc.
