Global Citizenship Toolbook

work book coverFrom the Road to Global Citizenship: An Educator’s Toolbook, a global citizen is described to be:

  • someone who feels a duty to respect and protect the Earth, the global community of fellow human beings and all other living creatures.
  • individuals who have developed an understanding of the interconnected world and who deeply appreciate and value ecological sustainability and social justice.
  • individuals who are willing and enabled to take action to make the world a fairer place for ourselves and other living creatures

UBC recognizes that universities have a pivotal role in shaping tomorrow’s global citizens and in contributing to the healthy functioning of the world community. In collaboration with UNICEF Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency, the Global Citizenship Community of Practice operating out of the Centre for Teaching & Academic Growth (TAG) authored the Road to Global Citizenship: An Educator’s Toolbook. Created by UBC faculty members, students, and staff, it is designed to help educators prepare students to find ethical, innovative, and workable solutions
to the pressing issues relevant to their field and beyond.

The Office of Learning Technology is proud to collaborate with TAG to create and design an interactive website based on the Global Citizenship Toolbook. Launching later this year, the website will make the toolbook accessible to educators worldwide.
